Yarn Along

Knitting is one of my favourite things.  Occasionally I can fit a row or two in after lunch ( my way of taking a break in our busy days, Mark tends to have a nanna nap) but  mainly it's what I do in the evenings after dinner. Reading, well I love reading also but it hardly ever gets a look in, but I did go to the library the other day and picked up a book. Anyway I'm joining in with  Ginny and all the other workers of yarn for some show and tell.

At the moment I'm working on at least 3 projects (well in yarn anyway. There's also some sewing going on. I said to Mark the other day that even if there were 3 of me I still wouldn't get done all the projects going on in my head. Just sooooo much to do, I just love it)

I picked up the book the other day and just loved the little cardi on the front. I'm knitting for a 12month old and using wool from my stash. the sleeves are knitted separately in the round . the body is knitted on circular needles and picks up the sleeve stitches except the underarm which are joined later with kitchener stitch. It is quite a simple and quick knit.

My socks are just about finished. Just the toe to go. Thanks to all who left a comment with hints on how not to get laddering with  double pointed needles.

The rug I started to crotchet for my grandson. it's the first real crotcheting I've done and I'm quite happy with how it's looking but I think I enjoy knitting more and so it's been pushed aside. Must get back to it soon !!!

A book I picked up from the library. A very light, but enjoyable read. which is just as well as I need to be able to pick it up and read it at odd times and not have to think too much about the plot.

  3. Love all the projects, especially the baby knit! I agree with needing more of a body to complete all the projects in my head too. Well, that and more time in my day! :)

  4. Your projects are so bright and cheerful!!! I love the sweater and REALLY love the socks. The color is gorgeous. Have you got a pattern for the rug? My daughter's room needs a rug and I've been tossing around the idea of making one.

    1. Hi Jen, the pattern for the rug comes from 'Learn to Crotchet in Just One Day' By Jean Leinhauser

  5. I love the rug! It looks like the sea on a winter day with the colours and the wavy pattern. I haven't read a Marion Keyes for ages but I love her books. If I had that book, and just a toe to go, Mark would be hard pushed to get me to help on the farm!

    1. Thanks Linda, That's exactly what the rug is supposed to look like. It's for Evan and his dad's a made keen surfer and really wanted his room to have ocean colours. And it is hard to drag myself away to the farm sometimes!

  7. Beautiful projects! The Cardi is really sweet and the blanky will be so snuggly when it's finished. I do relate to this behavior of having several projects on the go at once, much fun although ravelry is a dangerous place. ;)
