Oh Golden Sun

Oh golden sun so great and bright
Warms the world with all it's might
It makes the dark earth green and fair
And tends all things with loving care
It shines on blossoms, stone and tree
On bird and beast, on you and me
Oh may each deed throughout the day,
May everything we do and say,
Be strong and bright and true.
Oh golden sun, like you.

This is a verse that the children spoke when I was working at the Steiner School. I was reminded of it yesterday, while preparing a gift for a friend.

The bee has been called the Queen of the Sun, and we can look at honey as being stored sunlight. The bee has to make many thousands of trips, to and fro from her hive to gather honey enough just to fill a teaspoon. It is liquid gold and as such very precious. To me it is priceless.  It has been said that in Ancient Egypt honey was so precious that it was never sold, but given only to dear friends as a gift. I feel very happy to be able to give some honey from our bees and a beeswax candle to a dear friend for her birthday, and another candle to another friend for bringing such beautiful energy to our farm.

  3. Oh yes, that is exactly how I feel about the priceless honey we collect. We can't possibly sell it, but we do give it as a gift to precious friends and family.
